We asked for $30,000 to help us give more homeless children a safe, stable place to dream while their parents work to get their families back on their feet, and you gave even more. Giving by individual donors and organizations between Thanksgiving and New’s Years Eve 2018 stands at $31,287 and counting. (Some postmarked-in-time checks came in today’s mail that we haven’t tallied yet.)
What’s more, the appeal results don’t even take into account other of donations that poured in during the holiday season. For examples:
- Brand-new bicycles and lots of other gifts of toys, clothing, gift cards, festive meals and more donated by groups and individuals to our 32 resident families, and to and some of our formerly homeless families who recently moved into their own places.
- Thousands of dollars in cash donations applied to three-year memberships in our $1-per-day Guardian Angels Society donors club.
- Grants and large donations for specific purposes from the Minto Foundation (to keep formerly homeless families on a successful path), Women United Volusia (vocational educational for homeless moms) and a private donor who wanted to make sure families moving from Family Renew into their own places have mattresses on which to sleep.
- Proceeds of fundraisers by awesome groups such as the Victoria Gardens Women’s Club, which raised money at its fall auction event for Family Renew Community’s DeLand Residential Campus.
Thanks to all of you, families can look forward to overcoming homelessness in 2019.
