What kinds of vehicles can be donated?
We gratefully accept almost all cars and trucks, in nearly any condition. We also accept motorcycles, recreational vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, farm or construction equipment — even planes! If you want to donate your car or truck, please go to our donation wizard or call (888) 755-5435. If you want to donate any other type of vehicle, please call. (The link will take you to Family Renew Community’s dedicated vehicle donation form. When calling, please specify that Family Renew Community is your charity.)
When my vehicle is sold, how much of the money goes to Family Renew?
Family Renew Community will receive between 75 percent and 80 percent of the gross revenue generated through the sale of your vehicle. Family Renew’s vehicle donation program is powered by Cars for Charity, which reports that their partners at Advanced Remarketing Services return a higher percentage to charities than any other vehicle processing entity.
What if my vehicle isn’t running?
Your vehicle does not have to be running, but it must be whole and have four inflated tires so it can be moved by our towing operators. You will be asked to explain the condition of the vehicle. In rare cases, we are unable to accept a vehicle donation when the costs of transport and processing fees exceed the auction value of the vehicle.
What happens after my vehicle is picked up?
Your vehicle will be sold on behalf of Family Renew Community through a national network of auctions and direct buyers. After the vehicle has been sold, you will receive an acknowledgement letter providing your vehicle sale information.
How do I know my car is in good hands once it’s been picked up?
All the auctions and direct buyers used by Family Renew Community’s vehicle processing partner are licensed, insured and bonded in the states where they operate. By signing the title directly to Advanced Remarketing Services, you are legally transferring ownership of your vehicle. When your title is received and your vehicle is picked up, you are no longer responsible for the vehicle.
Are there tax benefits to donating my vehicle?

What happens to donated cars?
About half of cars donated through Cars for Charity are sold to licensed dealers at wholesale auctions and are reused for transportation. The other half are typically transported to auto salvage yards where all reusable car parts, batteries, tires and fluids are removed. Vehicles that can be recycled are crushed, shredded and recycled into steel.
Recycling cars keeps a huge amount of steel out of landfills.
Family Renew receives funds for each donated vehicle, although a car sold at auction generally generates more revenue than one that is recycled. Every donation makes a difference for the homeless families we serve.
